Tri-County Area School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Director of Building and Grounds to oversee the maintenance, safety, and operation of our K–12 school facilities and campus grounds. You will play a key role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for our students, staff, and community.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance: Oversee routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance for all school buildings, mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and equipment.
Groundskeeping: Manage outdoor maintenance, including lawn care, athletic field upkeep, landscaping, and winter snow/ice removal.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, fire codes, and records retention guidelines).
Vendor & Project Management: Coordinate with external contractors, manage service contracts, and oversee facility improvement projects.
Staff Supervision: Lead, schedule, and evaluate custodial and maintenance personnel.
Budgeting & Supplies: Manage department budgets, order supplies, and maintain accurate records of inventory and work orders.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or trade certification in facility management, HVAC, electrical, or related fields preferred.
3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, commercial groundskeeping, or trade operations (school district experience is a plus).
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building codes.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
