Artist of the Week - Lauren Wilkins is a sophomore in 2D Art 3 and 3D Art 1 this year. Lauren has created many great works this school year. Her glass mosaic, stamp and mini ink painting were all contenders for our Artist of the Week. Chosen is her crayon melt painting. Lauren painted this whimsical paintbrush, glued actual crayons and then melted the colored wax to create this fun piece. Her work measures 11" x 14" and will be highlighted at our upcoming art show. Lauren is role model student in class with loads of creativity!

Tri-County's ExCEL Play Group had fun with animals today! The kids had the chance to pet Thumper the bunny and one of Mr. Thao's baby chicks. We also read "Mrs. Wishy Washy's Farm" and sang "Old MacDonald" and "B-I-N-G-O." The children had fun making their own craft chickens and chicks. We wrapped up with a "hay bale" snack, aka Rice Krispie treats, and each child received their own "Mrs. Wishy Washy" book and a fun farm sensory play set! A big thank you to Sherry Hughes for sharing Thumper with us! Our last play group is scheduled for May 23rd at 9 am. Many of our familiar friends will be "graduating" from play group and moving on to 4K next school year, so we hope to fill their spots with some new faces. All children ages birth to 4 (who are not in school) are welcome!

Artist of the Week - Jackie Castillo is an 8th grade student in art. Jackie's assignment was to make a splatter painting using blended colors. Jackie chose to create this beautiful flower. Her use of color made her flower pop right off the canvas. The splatter paint adds to the energy and flow of her work. Her acrylic painting measures 14" x 11" and is a great example of this talented student.
